Easter

Easter is my favorite holiday for many reasons...it usually lands on the calendar when blossoms are appearing on the trees, the earth is coming out of it's winter slumber, color begins to reappear; Easter candy is the BEST, egg hunts and filled baskets Easter morning, and most of all it is the celebration of the Resurrection and all things new.

I love to sprinkle our home with seasonal items and have collected several Easter-themed pieces over the years.  The kids love the arrival of the "fish-bowl basket" on the breakfast table every year, as it is filled with personalized eggs dating back to when I was their age.  Thanks to Mimi for this tradition!

Creating your own is very simple...the "fish bowls" can be purchased at Hobby Lobby or Garden Ridge, and I always use colored paper shred for the "grass."  Here, I placed the bowl in the middle of a metal tray and scattered new and old Easter bunnies and eggs around the edge.
Here are a few closeups of these treasures!  You can see one here from 1978!
My mom sends a new egg to each of my children every year at Easter.  John David received this adorable crab this year.  Love this little guy!
Below is my favorite one, personalized a couple of years ago for Maddie.  Tay Morgan out of Mississippi painted this precious one.  She has a website with adorable hand-painted items...www.taymorgandesigns.com
This little egg is Lainey's 2010 gift.  Isn't she so cute?
And, of course, my trusty hurricanes are filled with Itsy Beadsies from Hobby Lobby...I save the beads and ribbon year to year...instant holiday color!
Another favorite...you may remember having these as a child...are panoramic eggs!  These were actually purchased off of Ebay 2 years ago after I was unable to find them locally.  What a treat for the kids...and adults!

This cross is hung on the brick of the back deck.  It is a handmade grapevine cross I found  at a nursery outside of Little Rock.  And I love it.  Stays up all year now, minus the lilies.
