Zaxby's Dipping Sauce

I have what my husband would probably refer to as an unnatural craving for Zaxby's dipping sauce...actually I crave the similar Abner's chicken dipping sauce, but no one has brought that religion to Arkansas yet.  The sauce I am referring to is the mayo/ketchup combo that draws gut-bomb seekers like myself to restaurants such as Zaxby'sAbner's, and Guthrie's, etc.
I first ate Abner's in college and for most of us, it was a one of the major food groups.  Zaxby's is not close to our home (which is a decidedly positive thing), so a couple of years ago, I did a little research to find out how to make my own sauce.  Now, it's not quite the same, of course, but it's close enough to get my fix.  I found this recipe at Recipelink.com but tweaked it a bit to our liking.  Enjoy!

Homemade "Zaxby's" Sauce
Serves about 4

1/2 cup mayo (the lemony the better...Hellman's is best!)
1/4 cup Heinz ketchup
1/2 t. garlic powder
1/2 t. worcestershire sauce
black pepper (no measurement...you will see why)

In a small bowl, whisk together the mayo, ketchup, and garlic powder, mixing well.  Add worcestershire sauce and blend well again.  Cover the surface of the sauce with black pepper until just coated.  Blend well.  Repeat process with black pepper, covering surface of sauce, and blend well again.  Refrigerate for at least 2 hours prior to serving to allow the flavors to mingle.
Serve with **chicken tenders, french fries, or our latest favorite with this sauce...sweet potato fries!
**I wish I had a photo to show you these delicious chicken tenders, but I made these a long time ago...before I was doing neurotic things like photographing our food before we eat!  This recipe hails from the trustworthy Pioneer Woman, so you know they must be delicious.
HERE is the link for PW's step-by-step instructions for these chicken tenders and, of course, beautiful photography...even of frying chicken!
Enjoy!

Ummmm... seriously? YUM!

Guthrie's has a special place in my heart! They were in Athens when I went to UGA. Ate more than my fair share of them! That was our reward dinner! You know, after a big exam, during finals week, etc!

so funny! when we first moved back to Oxford and I discovered Zaxby's, I thought what traitor would ever eat at Zaxby's... Abner's reigns in Oxford!!! Well I must admit, I am quite the Zaxby's fan. No offense, to ol' Abner, but we LOVE Zaxby's. Unfortunately for my waist line, Zaxby's is about 3 miles from my house. When I was pregnant with the twins, I ate there twice a week!! Couldn't get enough of Zaxby's Chicken sandwiches and Mr. Pibb Extra!! Those were the days!!

ummm... I LOVE all Chicken places, but yes my heart belongs to Abner's as well! :) I still reference that when talking about chicken places. We have a couple of local places here as well, with their own sauce, but being able to make it at home - awesome!
