Oh my goodness, Chocolate Chip Pie! A little secret gem tucked inside my recipe box from one of our dear family friends, Ginger Hales, in Atlanta. Homemade crust makes this pie, and it’s worth the extra three minutes of prep! Not to mention, it calls for ingredients most of us keep on hand, so no special trips to the store for a last minute, delectable dessert!
Chocolate Chip Pie
Filling:
1 cup sugar
1 stick butter
2 eggs
1/2 cup flour
1/2 t. vanilla
3/4 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
Mix all ingredients except chocolate chips with mixer. Add chocolate chips and mix well.
Pie Crust:
1 1/2 cups flour
1 1/2 t. sugar
1/2 t. salt
In a separate small bowl, whisk together:
1/2 cup oil
2 T. milk
Mix dry ingredients in a bowl, and add milk/oil mixture, using a fork to blend and moisten well.
Push mixture evenly into pie plate, using your fingers to crimp edges.
Bake 40 minutes at 350 degrees.
Allow to cool almost completely before cutting. Can be prepared well ahead of time, and you can microwave individual servings about 10 seconds to warm slightly.
Vanilla ice cream is a delicious addition to this pie!
Enjoy!
