A few months ago, I ran across a food blog called The Lady Behind the Curtain. Sheryl is hosting a "Cooking Challenge" each month starting this month! Anyone can participate, and bloggers simply create a recipe using the specified *two* ingredients, blog about it, and link their creations!
October's ingredients are Caramel and Apples. I knew immediately which recipe I would enter.
It is an ever-so-simple Caramel Apple Dip that my neighbor, Bonnie, in Mandeville, Louisiana, shared with me many years ago while we sat in our lawn chairs in our driveways watching our kids play. (I'm still sitting in my drive way in Little Rock watching kids! Bonnie, I wish you were here with me!)
This dip is perfect for your upcoming Halloween parties or neighborhood get-togethers or as a fun treat for an after-school snack.
Caramel Apple Dip
8 oz cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar
1 t. vanilla extract
6 oz Almond Toffee bits (Bits-O-Brickle)
Sliced apples...Granny Smith are a great paring. Any apple will work.
Lemon juice
Using mixer, mix all ingredients well. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
Slice apples. If apples will be sitting out for while, squeeze fresh lemon juice on them to prevent browning.
Serve dip alongside apples for dipping!
Enjoy!

I love fruit dips like this one! You'd find me standing over the bowl, crowding out all the other guests!
This dip sounds fabulous!! I hardly ever have toffee bits in my pantry (they go way too fast), but I do today and this dip is calling my name. Maybe I'll just have to reduce the recipe down to one serving. :)
I've seen some variations on this with Snickers bars, but this version sounds better than all of them!
Yum, this looks really tasty!
Oh YUM!!!!! Looks so good! Thank you for sharing!!!!!
So yummy dish. These look absolutely amazing and too testy. I am adding them to my must make list, What a great idea for this month's challenge!
This caramel apple dip is different from the usual candy apples. My kids would surely love this and I think my husband would go crazy over it because he likes apple more than any fruit.
